Norfolk boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, whether you enjoy sailing, fishing, water-sports or just enjoy time out on the beach with a bucket and spade, there are some great beaches nearby:
- Wells Next-the-Sea
Those who enjoy bird watching are spoilt for choice with Snettisham and Titchwell RSPB Reserves nearby. The Hawk and Owls Trust Reserve & Sculthorpe Moor is only a few hundred yards from the Lodge. Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is nearby just the other side of Fakenham and the spectacular Pink Footed Geese migration that occurs along the North Norfolk coast during the Autumn months is a spectacular sight to be seen when thousands of geese visit this area.
Visit the seals at Morston and Horsey.
Majestic Stately Homes nearby include:
- Sandringham House
- Houghton Hall
- Holkham Hall
- Blickling Hall and many others.
Wonderful walking along the challenging Norfolk Coastal Path, the old Roman route of Peddar’s Way or hire bikes to see the local countryside.
Fabulous shopping in the towns of Burnham Market and Holt with the beautiful city of Norwich less than 30 miles away. All have a great selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and wonderful local produce for sale.
We are spoilt with some fantastic places to eat and drink within a short distance from The Lodge. The fantastic, award winning Sculthorpe Mill is located next door to the Lodge. This newly refurbished pub and restaurant is just a stroll across the river and is a fabulous option for a drink or a delicious meal.
